Aim: The aim of present study is to evaluate the effects of ten weeks of aerobic exercise and consumption of safflower seed extract on PIK3R1gene expression and serum creatinine levels in male rats, after consuming Dexamethasone.Method: 25 male Wistar rats (371± 32 gr) were randomly divided into five groups including; control, dexamethasone, dexamethasone + safflower (500 mg/kg of body weight), dexamethasone + aerobic exercise (60 minutes, speed of 28m/min, 5 days a week), dexamethasone + safflower + aerobic exercise. Kidney damage was induced by subcutaneous injection of Dexamethasone (8 gr /kg of body weight) for 6 days. Results: Findings didn’t show a significant effect in the expression of PIK3R1 gene in different groups. Despite the observed changes in renal histology, dexamethasone caused insignificant changes in urea and uric acid. The results of this study showed that 10 weeks of consumption of safflower extract caused a significant decrease in urea and an insignificant increase in uric acid in mice with kidney damage. Also, 10 weeks of aerobic exercise significantly reduced urea, while causing an insignificant reduction in uric acid in mice with kidney damage. Despite changes in urea and uric acid, aerobic exercise and safflower extract can improve kidney damage.Conclusion: It seems that 10 weeks of aerobic exercise and consumption of safflower seed extract can be effective in improving kidney injury but the interveners in this study could not alter the expression of the PIK3R1 gene.

Aim: Dipeptidyl-peptidase-4 (DPP-4) has been proposed as a bridge between obesity and insulin resistance (IR). The aim of this study was to investigate the changes in serum levels of DPP-4 and HOMA2-IR after eight weeks of interval and continuous-walking in 9-11 year-old obese girls. Method: thirty two-obese girls (age: 9.62±0.75 years and BMI-percentile: 97.38±1.40%) volunteered in this study and were assigned to interval (n=12), continuous (n=11) and control (n=9) groups. The training were performed for 8-weeks, 3-sessions per week (30-min walking in the continuous and interval groups with 60-75%HRmax and 70-85%HRmax, respectively). Interval-walking included 2-min of walking and 1-min of active rest. After 10-hours of fasting, blood sampling was performed before the beginning of training and 72-hours after the last session. The paired t-test was used to examine the within-group changes. Results: Eight weeks of continuous and interval training did not significantly change the levels of DPP-4, insulin, glucose, and HOMA2-IR compared to the control group. Compared to the control group, the interval training resulted in improvement of the body weight, BMI, and BMI percentile (p=0.004, p=0.019, p=0.022), while the BMI only tended to decrease in the continuous training group (p=0.077). Conclusion: It seems that the improvement of the body composition due to the protocol used in this study was not sufficient to make significant changes in the HOMA2-IR and DPP-4 in early-pubertal obese girls.

Aim: Angiopoietin-like proteins that be involved in the regulation of lipid metabolism, can be potentially utilized in therapies for metabolic syndrome. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of eight weeks intermittent and continuous exercise training on serum angiopoietin-like protein 8 levels and lipid profile in 9-11 years old obese girls. Method: Thirty students aged 9 to 11 years old with a percentile of body mass index more than 90% were randomly assigned to control (n = 9), continuous training (n = 11), and intermittent exercise (12). The exercises included eight weeks of continuous and intermittent walking (3 sessions per week). The subjects underwent continuous training in the first four weeks with 60-75% HRmax and in the second four weeks with of 70-75% HRmax, and subjects with intermittent exercises in the first four weeks with intensity of 75-80% HRmax and in the second four weeks with of 80-85% HRmax. Serum levels of ANGPTL8, HDL, LDL, TG, TC and glucose was measured in pre-test and post-test. Results: The results of this study showed that in the intermittent group, ANGPTL8, TC, glucose increased (p< 0.05), and BMI and percentile of body mass index decreased (p<0.05). In the continuous group, the levels of ANGPTL8 and TC increased (p< 0.05) and BMI decreased (p<0.05). Comparison between groups showed that glucose and ANGPTL8 were not significantly different in two groups. Conclusion: The increased of angiopoietin-like protein 8 after eight weeks of continuous and intermittent exercises was independent of the type of exercise. It seems that, one of the main reasons is the increase of glucose and TC, which suggests the therapeutic potential of angiopoietin-like protein 8 in reducing these factors by inhibiting it.

Aim: Nesfatin-1 is a novel adipokine secreted by adipose tissue and interfere in regulation of blood Glucose, improvement of insulin sensitivity, appetite regulation, energy homeostasis and metabolic function. Given the importance of resistance exercise in prevention and treatment of overweight and obesity, the purpose of this study was to determine the effect of eight weeks resistance training on plasma levels of nesfatin-1 in overweight women.
Method: Thirty-eight overweight women (age 34.84±5.70 y, BMI 28.82±3.65 kg/ m2, body fat percent 36.34±3.39 % and WHR 0.85±0.04 (means ± SD)) were randomly divided into 2 groups. Aim: Omentin-1 is an adipokine that is highly secreted in visceral adipose tissue compared to subcutaneous adipose tissue and increases insulin sensitivity. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of 8-week resistance training on omentin-1¬ plasma levels in insulin resistant male rats. Method: Twenty-four Wistar male rats¬ with average weight¬ 161±23 gr were randomly divided into three groups: health control, insulin resistance control, insulin resistance training. After fructose-inducing insulin resistance to the two groups of insulin resistance control and insulin resistance training bleeding in all subjects was done then training group was exercised for 8 weeks (3d/wk). In the training protocol, a ladder was used on which rats carriedpen loads suspended from their tails. After the training session omentin-1, insulin, glucose, lipids profile plasma concentration and (HOMA-IR) index were measured. Results: The results of this study indicate that 8 weeks of resistance training can cause significant increase of omentin-1 and HDL-C plasma concentration in insulin resistance training group (P≤0.05) and insulin, glucose, cholesterol, LDL-C, TG plasma concentration and (HOMA-IR) index were decreased. Conclusion: This study indicates that resistance training increases omentin-1 plasma concentration in insulin resistance rats and improves lipids and metabolic profile.

Aim: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of aerobic exercise training on plasma vaspin concentration and insulin resistance index in sedentary overweight women. Methods: Twenty six sedentary overweight women (aged: 43.1 ± 12.6 year, weight: 73.4 ± 10.0 kg, BMI: 29.1 ± 3.2 kg/m2) voluntarily participated in an 8-weeks aerobic exercise training program included running with 40- 80% reserve heart rate, 20- 45 min/day. Anthropometric and metabolic parameters in addition to plasma vaspin concentration were measured at baseline and after 8 weeks of the training program. To compare changes in variables according to body composition alterations, we divided the subjects into responders (defined as participants who lost ≥1% of baseline body fat percentage), and non-responders (defined as participants with no change or <1% reduction in body fat percentage). Results: After 8 weeks of aerobic exercise training we did not find any significant changes in plasma vaspin concentration. Nevertheless, body weight and body fat percentage decreased significantly (P≤0.05) and plasma vaspin concentrations increased significantly (P≤0.05) in responders, but not in non-responders. Changes in plasma vaspin concentrations were significantly correlated with changes in plasma insulin and glucose levels, and insulin resistance index (HOMA-IR) only in non-responders. Conclusions: This study indicated that reduction in body fat percentage induced by aerobic exercise training could be an effective factor to increase plasma vaspin levels in sedentary overweight women.

Abstract
Aim: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of 4 week resistance training on plasma omentin-1 levels in Streptozotocin induced diabetic rats.
Method: In this experimental study 24 male Wistar rats with mean weight of 288±22g (mean±SD) were randomly divided into 3 groups: non-diabetic control (n=8), diabetic control (n=8), and diabetic training (n=8). Diabetes was induced by a single intra-peritoneal injection of streptozotocin (STZ) at a dose of 55 mg/kg. The resistance training consisted of climbing a ladder carrying a load suspended from the tail (3 days/wk, for 4 wk). After 4-week body weight, plasma omentin-1, glucose, insulin, non-esterified fatty acids (NEFA) concentrations and lipid profiles were measured.
Results: After four weeks plasma omentin-1 levels in trained diabetic rats was higher when compared with diabetic control group, but it was not statistically significant. We did not find any significant difference in plasma glucose, insulin, NEFA and lipid profile levels between all groups. Body weights alteration in diabetic resistance trained rats were significantly lower compared with the diabetic control group.
Conclusion: The results of this study indicated that plasma levels of glucose, insulin, lipid profile and omentin-1 remained unchanged in diabetic rats due to 4 weeks resistance training. Short duration of training program appears to be an effective factor in the absence of significant changes in plasma omentin-1 levels.
